Reykjavik, Iceland
A modified found chair which was acquired in a second hand store in Reykjavik. It had most likely filtered into Reykjavik through the now closed U.S. army base that was stationed outside of Reykjavik until 2006. This sturdy faux-logde style armchair had original been made in Texas.
A circular piece of carpet was wrapped in a length of material that featured the image of bright oranges was sown onto the upper cushion of the armchair and the makers tag was moved from the underside to the overside of the lower cushion.
Oranges were reportedly but almost non-existent in Iceland until recently, they were eaten only as special treats on Christmas Day. But they were abundant on the U.S. base at all times.
